Laura's story

Since childhood, I’ve always been fascinated by the human mind. I was captivated by stories of unusual people, and this led to interests in poetry, psychology, art, photography and literature, my mind expanding with every new thing I learnt.

After studying, I worked in advertising for ten years. This was fun to begin with, but over time became frustrating as I felt less and less satisfied by the work I was doing. It did not align with my interests or view of the world.

Then everything changed: I became pregnant. By chance, I found a leaflet about HypnoBirthing. It appealed to me immediately – even though I knew nothing about hypnosis – and I took the course. The experience was incredible. The programme addressed both my conscious and unconscious mind, helping me to let go of pre-conceived notions about giving birth. When the day came, I felt in total control and was able to allow my body’s natural ability to take over, rather than fighting it out of fear. I welcomed my daughter to the world feeling in control (and in a flood of pure happiness).

Following this life-changing time, I had two calls that led me to where I am now.

The first call was to help other women be in control of their birth experience, so they could enjoy it as I had. I trained to be a HypnoBirthing practitioner.

The second call came as I saw how the thoughts and perceptions of couples shifted between the first and last session of my HypnoBirthing courses. I watched as they were released from limiting beliefs and behavioural patterns, to be able to move through the next stage of their life in a happier, healthier and more relaxed way.

This is why I became a hypnotherapist. From the very beginning, I have loved having the opportunity to use my energy and time to help anyone who comes to me, asking to be freed from their self-imposed limitations.

This is also why I trained to become a Mindfulness Meditation and Compassion teacher. To empower my clients to train their own mind (and brain!) and become resilient.

Simon Sinek says: “Most of us live our lives by accident – we live as it happens. Fulfilment comes when we live our lives on purpose.”
I have found the purpose of my life.
